More More Augemented Reality

Lego does this one quite well. Notcot has the details.
As an added bonus here's a link to the German company, Metaio,
that is apparently at the top of the augmented reality heap.

Sick of it yet?

Bars & Tones.

Everything these days seems to get a Version 2.0 and then some. Finally, some 74 years after Philo Farnsworth received the patent decision giving him credit for inventing the "electric image", Bars and Tones gets an upgrade. (By the way, Philo transmitted the first image back in 1927 using his Image Dissector in his lab at 202 Green Street - San Francisco.)

2009 - The Year of Augmented Reality Adverts.

You may have read/heard about this already
and if you haven't, you heard it here first fools.

Augmented Reality combines virtual reality
with the real world. Advertising is getting hip to this.

'o9 will be filled with it - good and bad. We'll be sick
of it by July. I'll be sick of it by May, but I can be an
asshole that way. Check out some examples below.
And here's to a realistically prosperous 2009.

Tilt Shift.

Although it would make a good band name,
it isn't...yet...that I know of.
It is, however,
a photography technique. Make real pictures
look like a
miniature(or "mini-itcher" as my boy
Jack use to say) model. Cool stuff.

with some great "tilt shift" videos at the bottom.

2nd Place Never Looked So Good.

Hey all, the AICE had it's annual Trailer Wars
event a couple of weeks back.
The challenge: Assistant Editors take a film
and cut a trailer for it as different genre/movie.
Sounds like
a bitch of task if you ask me.
Our very own John Jenkins Stark (8 Clip)
killed it with a
second place finish. Click Capote.

Mash

The fixed gear phenomenon has hit Filmcore. The halls of the SF office are cluttered with bikes. Mash are a crew of local bikers who put out a pretty amazing video a year or so ago. Their new website was launched last week with a video of the SF boys riding in Austin with Lance Armstrong. The video was cut by our own Tim Brooks, GFX by the very tall Joe Macken and colored by Dave B. It turned out great, and was a nice change of pace for all of us.... check it.

Boot And Skirts

Our very own C Mcdonald has just had his first book of photographs published. It's a bunch of photos he took while on tour with Recliner. I'm sure in some countries you could get arrested for this kind of 'photography', but luckily for us he made it back unscathed. You can order a copy here

Homeless Graffiti

Jon has decided to make the Ipod more hip and homely by getting local artists to draw on the walls. He turned up with some kid who he found on the street, paid him 20 bucks and he drew a kid on rollerskates with a hedge cutter. Makes perfect sense.

The Trade

Tim Fender was part of the 48 Hour Film Festival. 50 odd teams from SF participated. Tim edited a short directed by Drea Cooper and written by Jason Headley. Their genre was Western, and result is The Trade. Jason wrote the script on Friday night, they shot on Saturday. Tim loaded dailies at midnight and cut through the night. They delivered the film at 6pm on Sunday. Here's what Fender looked like at the end of that day.

Live Graphic Animation

Greetings all. It's been way too long since my last post.
With that in mind I'll mention that in '08 I hope to bring
some additional FC blog voices to ya.
These people know who they are and best be ready
to bring it in the new year. So with that pressure asserted,
I bring you this link to a splendiferous video displaying
the future of graphic animation. Ettinger is now installing
a FC certified trampoline in our 500 Sansome annex.
Enjoy.

Mustache - The Finale.

You all may remember this post from way back when. Alas, the ball was dropped. No winner was crowned. Yet, pictures were taken. Here they are. The act of growing was thoroughly enjoyed by all except for one participant's better half, whose name is withheld to protect the innocent and guilty. Much ado about nothing? Judge for yourself. And, if you do indeed pass judgement, send me an email with your vote. The criteria: Best Overall, Most Flattering, Least Manly.
Just maybe...before the end of the '07...a winner will be crowned.
