Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Our very own Tiffany Burchard has made the move to NYC after years of toiling away under the sun and coastal eddy* in our Santa Monica office. She's going to see if she can make it there. Reports are coming in that she's doing just fine - even avoiding the nice man at Grand Central Station who offered to carry her luggage.

I had the pleasure of tooling around that up and coming city with her and Brian last fall . We were out there for the NYC office opening party. Tiffany put in a fine weekend of assessment: midtown squatting at a friends, basement club ping-pong, beer and scrabble, lounging at the MOMA and walking the Brooklyn Bridge. Done Deal. Who wouldn't move there after a trip like that (not too mention with such fine company/scrawny bodyguards in Brian and myself)?

It's been said, "Live in New York once but leave before it makes you too hard. Live in San Francisco once but leave before it makes you to soft. " I'll add...Live in L.A. sometime...for awhile...see it you like it. Then try to live somewhere else and see if you like it better. L.A. will always be there under the sun and coastal eddy.






*A coastal eddy forms when upper level large-scale flow off Point Conception interacts with the complex topography of the Southern California coastline. As a result, a counter clockwise circulating low pressure area forms with its center in the vicinity of Catalina Island. This formation is accompanied by a southerly shift in coastal winds, a rapid increase in the depth of the marine layer, and a thickening of the coastal stratus. Predominately these eddies occur between April and September with a peak in June. A typical Catalina eddy will allow coastal low clouds and fog to persist into the afternoon. A strong Catalina eddy may extend to 6000 feet and these clouds will move through the inland valleys and reach as far as Palmdale.
