Urinal - The Blog
As some of you may know, during baseball season, the bulletin boards above the urinals in the FCSF men's room are dedicated to news of the Oakland Athletics and the San Francisco Giants. After a mostly sub-par season from each team, the boards lay empty and forlorn. Then one day Jon exits the bathroom and strikes up a conversation with Andy whose proximity to the restrooms allows him to chart the bm's of his co-workers. But before I digress on this possible subject of a future post, I'll get on with it. Jon and Andy decide to assign a week of urinal bulletin board posts to a lucky employee.
Andy boldly went first setting the tone with a Halloween theme. He presented a synopsis/review/critique of "Sleepaway Camp" - The "Showgirls" of 80's horror movies. He also included a list famous haunts in San Francisco and a guide to detecting Ghosts. Lastly Andy put up the lyrics to REO Speedwagon's "Keep on Lovin You" which include the lines, "You played dead But you never bled Instead you lay still in the grass All coiled up and hissin." REO, a bit creepy. Who knew?
Brian followed with a Vice Magazine/Mug Shot collage. Photos of original characters with captions to match played off mug shots of such noted icons: Sid Vicious, James Brown, Steve McQueen, Patty Hearst, and Tom Delay. He finished his tour-de-force up with the poem "Ode To The Marina Girl". Go here for I cannot do it justice.
James followed up in week three with urban darkness. Yes, Mr. Cohen brought us maps of San Franscisco charting chronic alcoholics, sex offenders and earthquake severity. Hmmm...He mapped various neighborhoods of interests: Filmcore's, Nicki's, Carl's, Brian's etc. and their proximity to said dangers. Of particular interest was the incredibly high rate of sex offenders in Brian's neck of the woods.

Urinal blog! That sounds like a nasty condition...
Started with a Filmcore LA left urinal board, Filmcore SF right urinal board idea, then thought screw Filmcore and just went with SF/LA. Then thought of some great photos and thought screw California, and went with the suicide, death, how long have I spent pissing in my lifetime, my God, I could have read War and Peace by now theme.

During the inaugural three weeks of the Urinal Blog, Jon steadily chimed in saying "Bring your A game." "You will be judged." "I'm bringing in multimedia." For some reason unbeknownst to me, we dismissed his barbs as empty. Lo and behold, week four commences with both bulletin boards filled with vintage baseball cards from Jon's childhood collection and baseball stadiumm biographies covering the walls. Not bad, though not surprising either. But wait, what's that I hear coming from the stall???? Is that the late, great Bill King broadcasting from the can? Yes indeed, Jon brought multimedia that began with Bill King's radio calls and quickly escalated on Tuesday to full screen video of baseball bloopers, "Hoosiers" starring Gene Hackman(with French subtitles), and "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"(not connected to the theme - yet well received). To quote Andy, "Kudos to Jon for this week's bathroom entertainment! He promised multimedia--and man, did he deliver! Five Star Bonus for screening "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" in the stall".

I report the above objectively. Although, I do realize that, due to basic human needs, the Urinal Blog has more traffic than this very blog. So be it. But if you find the men's room locked with a sign asking, "Have you read your Filmcore Blog today?" You'll understand.
Happy Thanksgiving and good luck with the TRYPTOPHAN.
